Dr. Doreen Mayfield is a character that is featured in Creator's post-apocalyptic survival story, Just Keep Running. She first appears in the prologue to the story, "d3446z01".

Persona

As of yet, very little is known about what Doreen's personality is like.

Pre-Apocalypse

Very little is known about Doreen's life before the apocalypse began. She grew up in the midwestern United States and had a father who was in the U.S. Army. He taught her how to hunt and how to defend herself at a very young age. It is known that she lived in the village of Petra on the island of Lamina, where she was employed as a biochemist and doctor for Sinclair-Reese Pharmaceuticals at their Violet facility.

Post-Apocalypse

During the outbreak at the Violet facility, Doreen was there working. She was there to witness people being attacked by the infected, then turning themselves. While in the isolation ward on Level D, she witnessed the first undead patient on Lamina be put down by Delainey Fischer after he attacked and killed one of her fellow doctors. While tending to a dying man, she became distracted and was unable to protect her work partner, Céleste, from being bitten by a zombie. She was there to witness the arrival and withdrawal of Delta Squad 2 as they deemed the facility to be a lost cause, lost to the dead, and was left behind with countless others.

As things in the facility began to spiral out of control, Doreen witnessed many people be infected and turn, but managed to protect herself. Her co-worker, Sharon, was bitten in one of the stairwells, and came to her for help, but succumbed to blood loss and shock. When she turned, she attacked Doreen, but Doreen was able to put her down by stabbing her in the head with a pair of scissors.

Somehow, Dr. Mayfield managed to survive long enough to barricade herself inside the cafeteria on Level B along with a number of other individuals and dying patients who had been bitten. She then assisted Vito Tobias and Carl Jemes with the treatment of said patients as their conditions began to worsen, up until the point that Dr. Vincente Warren arrived from his trek up from Level D.

Doreen is seen attempting to calm Céleste down after stopping the bleeding from her bite, holding her hand and telling her that she was going to be okay, to which she knows better. She has Clive Simpson restrain her to keep her from shaking as she administers a dose of morphine, which manages to relax her. She then asks Clive if he thinks that DS2 has evacuated the villages on the island, to which he states that he doesn't know.
